Some Passport Services Resuming in Canada

Canadian citizens can once again apply for a passport by mail. Citizens with immediate need of a passport or who are travelling in less than 30 days and have proof of travel can request in-person appointments.

Canadian citizens who do not have travel plans are asked to wait before applying for a passport. One can now use the simplified passport renewal process within two years of expiry if one’s passport expired on or after February 1st, 2019.

Canadians abroad should contact the nearest Canadian diplomatic or consular office for passport services. Services offered at Canadian offices abroad vary according to local conditions.

Refugee travel documents and certificates of identity continue to be processed on an urgent basis.
